he'll at least walk towards the door, even if he's in his iron spider-suit, both as an easier way to explain it, and also-- yeah, he's trying to figure out a way to make it easier for vincent. the mask recedes, his hair falling a bit messy from the nanites as he knows.)
I'm here, Mr. Valentineeeeee! Pizza deliiiiiivery!
Vincent has seen this suit before in the distance. A teenager swinging on webbing that reminds him of spiders. Not the first one he's met, either. It's just... well, he didn't expect Peter to be this one.]
[It's a bit cheeky from him, but also telling from his fondness for Peter that's even willing to joke at all.]
Yes. [Permission granted! Vincent steps aside to let Peter inside.
The interior of his inn room is pretty telling in that there is almost nothing with a personal touch inside. The only thing of note, honestly, is the large, sturdy coffin that's in the bedroom. Aside from that, Vincent hasn't done anything to personalize or change the decor at all.]
It's... Actually not the worst I've heard, but come on.
(he's not mad, he's laughing! playful is a fun color on vincent. he'll find a surface to put the pizza box on, the nanites retreating so he's left in his normal outfit - just a hoodie and jeans.)
Yeah, so, I thought that was some explanation, at least-- you did get that coffin! Uh, great, uh, for you, I guess - should we get you a whole body umbrella, too?
[That looks more like the Peter he's familiar with. It does put a little bit into perspective, so at least Peter isn't totally helpless, but... still. Vincent would simply feel better making sure he's unharmed.]
Very funny. [It's spoken dryly but clearly he doesn't mind.] Didn't you say you were going to explain things to me?
Well, I went on a school trip to a STEM thing, and a radioactive spider bit me. After that, I kinda got these super insane powers, like, I can walk on your roof, or stop a bus with my hands, and my senses are pretty crazy-- ah, and there's that little sense of like, when danger is coming, or something is off, I get like a weird sensation and I just know things and stuff. So, yeah, feel better?
[Genuinely, he had been concerned that Peter had been experimented on. That would have enraged Vincent to no ends, but from the sounds of it? It's just circumstance.]
Uh, yeah, pure coincidence. Right or wrong moment, right or wrong place, sorta stuff. Hey, why do you-- Why does that feel like a big deal? That it was chance?
(he picked up the relief, mister valentine. his hand moves to the man's shoulder, concerned not hinted, instead clear in his voice.)
There's the abrupt urge to make his escape suddenly. This is... not a situation he is used to. He hasn't spoken to anyone really much about his own circumstances. Truthfully, Peter's probably the first. Vincent had no reason to share with Cloud and the others; not for lack of care, but frankly they'd just be better off not knowing. It wasn't their problem anyway.
Vincent dips his head down slightly at the hand on his shoulder, his face mostly concealed by his cloak. For a moment, he is quiet and conflicted until he confesses--]
(he cares. peter's heart beats to the tune of believing in the people around him, in hope. to hear something horrible happened to a person that he cares so much, even without any specifics, breaks his heart. his eyebrows nearly knit together at the forehead, concern, as he listens to that tone that comes out of someone he hardly expects to hear it from.
that hand pulls the man into a hug. while he may not know what happened, he does know that vincent couldn't be a monster even if he tried. he's this strange man, who sleeps in a coffin, whose answers are short, and they make him snort when he's a little cheeky. he likes him, that's really the bottom line.)
Hey, doesn't matter -- I mean, it does matter, but you're not a monster any more than I am, okay? And I'm definitely not a monster, so you aren't one either, okay?
[When was the last time anyone had embraced him? It's difficult to say, when time no longer touches Vincent. No longer does he age, and he suspects that it will be that way eternally. Thirty years, maybe. Thirty long years.
Vincent moves stiffly, not completely certain how to manage it, but he does rest his hand to Peter's back as if to relearn how to return the affection.]
...That isn't true, Peter.
I am. Simply because you haven't seen it yet. There are fiends inside of me -- literally. I doubt I can persuade you to believe otherwise, but I will say it as a warning: I, too, am a monster not unlike those outside the city.
I only hope you will not see it.
[Though it probably wouldn't bother Peter, would it? Minato certainly doesn't seem to care.]
(he can tell that this is strange for vincent, he's quite a strange man. stiff arms, stiff hug, but there's a lot he feels is going on under the surface of this awkward embrace. he's not letting go until he feels like vincent has understood what he means in completion.)
You can be the Grinch, mister Valentine. I like you, that's what matters, so you gotta like, stop being surprised when I want you around.

[Genuinely, he had been concerned that Peter had been experimented on. That would have enraged Vincent to no ends, but from the sounds of it? It's just circumstance.]
So your DNA was altered. ...But by mere chance.
[There is a hint of relief in his voice.]
i missed you baby

Was your thing... Not by chance?
